Come up with us, hear the history and be amazed by the unbeatable views. Learn more about one of Auckland’s most beloved heritage buildings, while enjoying incredible panoramic views from the rooftop out over the Waitematā harbour, Mt Eden and beyond.

Throughout this 1 hour tour, you'll learn about the building, the people who work here and our place in the Domain from this unique vantage point.

Suitable for adults and children aged 11 and over. Each tour is limited to 10 people. Book now to secure your place!

  • The tour includes stairs and is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

  • A moderate fitness level is required.

  • This is an outdoor event so dressing for the weather on the day is highly advised.

  • Flat, closed-toe shoes with good grip must be worn, and long trousers covering the ankles are recommended. If ticket holders are not wearing correct footwear on the day, they will not be able to join the tour.

  • All bags must be checked into lockers and umbrellas are not permitted on the Museum roof.


    Inclement weather cancellation
    In the case of severe weather, heavy rain or strong winds, the tour will be cancelled and our team will contact you to rebook onto another date, or organise a refund. We will notify all ticket holders by 9AM of any cancellations for the 10.15AM tour, and by 5PM for the 6.30PM Twilight Tuesdays evening tour.

    We suggest you include a phone number when you book your tickets, so that our team are able to contact you promptly in case of cancellation.
